Arkhas — Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

Mady Labs — the independent software practice of Mohamed Mady, Egypt — is the data controller for Arkhas. Contact: [email protected]. This policy covers the Arkhas app on iOS and Android. The madylabs.com website has its own policy.

2. What Arkhas holds, and why

• An anonymous device identifier. A random string generated on your phone the first time you open the app. It is not your advertising identifier and not derived from your hardware. Purpose: returning your watchlist to your phone.
• Your watchlist — the products you chose to watch and any target price you set, stored against that identifier.
• Language and country preference (e.g. Arabic, Egypt), so the app opens in the right language and currency.
• Click-out events. When you tap through to a store, we record which offer and when, against the anonymous identifier. Purpose: knowing which comparisons are useful, and reconciling affiliate commission (section 5).
• A push notification token — only if you enable alerts. Issued by Expo's push service, stored against the anonymous identifier, used for one thing: telling you a price you asked about has dropped. Decline the permission, or never watch a product, and no token is ever created.

Your recent searches never leave your phone. They are stored only in the app's local storage.

Not collected: name, email, phone, address, date of birth, password, payment or card details, precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, advertising identifier, health or financial data. Arkhas contains no advertising or analytics SDK.

3. Legal basis and retention

We process this data because it is necessary to provide the features you use (watchlist, alerts) and for our legitimate interest in knowing whether the comparison is useful — nothing more. Watchlist entries are kept until you remove them or delete the app. Click-out records are kept for 24 months and then deleted automatically. Deleting the app deletes the local identifier; a reinstall starts empty.

4. Who else sees it

• Infrastructure providers that host the Arkhas backend, processing data only on our instructions.
• Expo, Apple and Google — only to deliver a price alert you enabled. They receive the notification and your device's push token, never your watchlist.
• A public authority, where the law requires it.

We do not sell, rent or trade data, and never share it for anyone else's marketing.

5. Stores, affiliate links and prices

Arkhas shows offers from third-party stores including Amazon.eg and noon and links out to them. As an Amazon Associate, Mady Labs earns from qualifying purchases made through Amazon links, at no extra cost to you. Similar arrangements may apply to other stores and are disclosed in the app.

When you tap through, you leave Arkhas and enter the store's own site or app, where their privacy policy applies. We do not receive your order, payment details, or what you bought.

Prices and availability are accurate only as of the "checked" time shown next to each offer. The price on the store's own page at the time of purchase is the one that applies.

6. Your rights

Under Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law 151/2020), and the GDPR if you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you may access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict its processing, and complain to your data protection authority. Email us at the address above. Because Arkhas holds nothing that identifies you by name, we will ask for your in-app device identifier to find your records. You can also erase everything by removing your watchlist entries and deleting the app.

7. Children

Arkhas is a general shopping tool for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children; because no identifying data is collected, we hold nothing that could identify a child.

8. Changes

Changes are published on this page with a new date. Material changes to how Arkhas handles your data are also surfaced in the app.
